Kendal Rugby Club is pleased to announce that Reece Tomlinson has accepted the role of Men's Captain this season. Reece graduated to the senior squad from playing his Colts rugby with Kendal and the 6ft 6 'enforcer' made his debut for the 1st XV in 2006 at an away match at Stockport.
In 2014, Reece expanded his playing experience through successful stints with Preston Grasshoppers, Rossendale and Kirkby Lonsdale before heading back to Kendal during the pandemic. Since returning, Reece has been a positive figure running our line out as well as taking other leadership duties, supporting outgoing captain Glen Weightman. On accepting the captaincy, Reece said "I am happy to be asked to lead my home town club and looking forward to the season ahead".
Glen Weightman took over the captaincy after a tough season and has led the team over the most difficult time for rugby in living memory. He leaves the role with the team in a much better place than it was when he took over the reins. The coaching team would like to thank him for his efforts over the last "2" playing seasons. Glen will now adopt a role in the coaching team supporting Backs coach Ian Voortman. Glen said "It is a great opportunity to start the transition into coaching and developing the young local lads coming through the ranks".
The club wishes Reece and Glen every success in their new endeavours.
